Our Story

The Microbesity Collaborative (MOC) is dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of the infant microbiome and obesity-related metabolic disorders, where "micro" reflects both the tiny microbes and the beginnings of life itself.

Vision

To unlock the potential of early-life microbial and metabolic programming to promote lifelong health, reducing the burden of obesity and related conditions starting from the earliest stages of life.

Mission

To explore how the breastmilk microbiome and infant gut microbiome shape immune development, metabolism, and growth, especially in the context of rising childhood obesity, by integrating expertise in microbiology, nutrition, and developmental physiology.

Our Approach

We foster interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and knowledge translation to inform evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies. To build capacity in this space, we also offer microcredentials in diverse lab techniques, empowering the next generation of researchers with practical, hands-on skills in microbiome and metabolic research.
